Professional History

Current and Past Positions

Quality Engineer

Robert Bosch LLC

Anderson, SC

April 2020 - Present

I currently serve as a customer quality engineer for ceramic oxygen sensing elements. My customer is based in Asia and I am responsible for all quality issues with the 8 element types that we supply in high volume to their production facilities. I work closely with application, development, manufacturing, quality, and sales engineers based in Korea, South Carolina, and Germany to champion and resolve all customer reported quality issues.

Apart from my customer focused responsibilities I also serve as the quality engineer for clean and grey room processes that produce ceramic oxygen sensing elements. I work closely with the local manufacturing and operation departments to create robust quality procedures and correct all process deviations.

  • Provides international customer support for 8 ceramic element types used in global markets by voicing customer concerns to production departments and resolving technical challenges

  • Collaborates with a diverse global team to investigate customer-reported issues from initial problem reporting to complete root cause analysis to final reporting to customer

  • Maintains a 0.25 PPM defect rate for clean and grey room workflows that produce 22,000,000 ceramic oxygen sensing elements a year

  • Actively manages internal production issues for 17 product types produced in 20,000 part Lots through daily meetings and individual follow-up with manufacturing and operation team members

  • Coordinated with teams comprised of operation, manufacturing, and development engineers through three 8D problem solving projects

  • Prepares monthly quality measure snapshots for plant management review

  • Performs biweekly process confirmation audits to ensure quality methods are being followed

  • Performs proactive monthly control plan, FMEA, 5S, and 8D corrective action audits

  • Performed a full PPAP for new sensing element type rollout

Development Engineer

Robert Bosch LLC

Anderson, SC

October 2016 - March 2020

I served as a customer focused Development Engineer supporting OE and Aftermarket exhaust gas sensors for global markets. This required working closely with sales, operations, purchasing, application engineering, manufacturing engineering, and quality engineering-worldwide-to fulfill new product development. The development cycle began with establishing customer requirements and ended with large volume manufacturing.

  • Led 9 exhaust gas sensor projects through the development cycle producing 576,000 parts per year for OE and Aftermarket customers

  • Directed documentation creation, organization, and communication for Agile oxygen sensor development to create a new state-of-the-art oxygen sensor generating $19 million a year in Indian and Chinese markets

  • Executed engineering change process to implement new components to satisfy developing environmental regulations and prevented $3.1 million loss in yearly revenue

  • Coordinated 118 sample orders with internal and external partners to produce 1428 sample parts generating $250,000 in revenue

  • Resolved product returns for customers by conducting root cause analysis and presenting results to internal departments for production resolution

  • Coordinated with and oversaw international teams in Germany and India to change drawings and documents for production use

  • Supported manufacturing and quality departments with risk assessments for non-conforming production parts

  • Generated CAD models, part drawings, and offer drawings for wide band and switch type oxygen sensor variants

  • Created and maintained documents, materials, and bills of material using SAP

Co-op Engineer

AFL - Alcoa Conductor Accessories

Duncan, SC

Spring 2014, Fall 2014, Summer 2015, Spring 2016

While in college, I participated in a co-op engineering rotational program with a one-semester-at-school and a one-semester-working schedule. I was able to gain real world design engineering experience working within the high-voltage power distribution industry.

  • Performed onsite product demonstration for customers in the public utility sector

  • Developed accessories for high voltage overhead power lines and bus stations to IEEE standards using several state-of-the-art techniques such as 3D printing and finite element analysis for rapid prototyping

  • Created test procedures and fixtures to investigate customer- reported failures and prepared comprehensive test reports for internal and external customers

  • Used SolidWorks CAD and FEA for new product development

  • Performed conductor connector strength testing for design verification

  • Designed a hydraulic fluid cooling loop to increase test fixture lifetime

  • Performed failure testing on various aluminum alloy bolts to investigate potential cost savings

How I responded to Covid-19

Covid-19 has presented a challenge to everyone. No matter who you are, Covid-19 has affected your everyday life. To me, it was a wakeup call. After intermittent shut-downs at the factory I work at, I decided to learn a new skill that I believe will be a part of the world from now on. In order to become more prepared for what the world may look like at the end of this crisis, I enrolled in an online course through Coursera to learn Machine Learning theories and how code Machine Learning algorithms using Matlab. This 11 week course challenged me but it reignited my love for programming and data analysis that I am looking to use in my next career move!

Here are the machine learning topics I have experience with:

  • Model training (Supervised and Unsupervised learning)

  • Feature generation

  • Training data set optimization

  • High bias and variation diagnostics

  • Model scoring
